Haman, advisor to the Persian King, planned to kill all the Jews in the Empire. His plans were foiled by Mordecai and his adopted daughter Esther, who had become Queen Of Persia. Esther persuaded the King not to kill the Jews.
We celebrate the day, Purim, every year by dressing up, feasting and rejoicing, Esther having saved the Jews from a certain death. Happy Purim.
